The City of Lamesa

The City of Lamesa

As Mayor of the City of Lamesa I want to ask, Please everyone be mindful of the Walmart employees during this tough transition. These people have served us well over the last 30 years with patience and kindness. Let’s extend the same to them as they’re under a lot of stress and long hours with this closing. I witnessed yesterday some unruly behavior and disrespect toward them and others that was totally uncalled for. The lines are long and they are doing the best they can to do their jobs. The employees at Walmart are great people, they are our friends, neighbors and family, and my heart and prayers go out to them one and all. Lamesa is a strong community, we have faced adversity before and have come away for the better. Talks are underway already with several great companies to fill the vacancy left here. I truly believe great things are in store for this city. I ask that we lift each other up in prayer and positivity as we all transition together. Together we can achieve great things, apart we are nothing.
